ABOUT ME

WHY I LOVE TRIATHLON
For me it’s fun dedicating myself to my training and then to see the results pay off on the podium. Along the way I meet great people, see amazing sites, travel the world (without having to booze it up in some dingy pub) and above all enjoy testing the body limits to hopefully stamp my name in triathlon history. It is great to get up everyday and do something I truly love.

MY BACKGROUND
I started sport at an early age and was very fortunate to have a supportive family that gave me the opportunity to give everything a go.  All through my school days I raced competitively with swimming as my main focus along with participating in a variety of school sports.

Throughout my university years I was always passionate about keeping fit … loving the gym aerobics, running and taking part in the ‘Stroke and Stride’ Duathlon series.

In 2007 I happened to move to Taupo (the home of Ironman NZ) and discovered Ironman. This was the first time I had ever heard of the Ironman and half Ironman triathlon races.  So in 2008, I purchased my first bike and decided that this was something I would like to give a go.  I am not one to ease into things, so I decided for my first triathlon I would do a half Ironman (which I did not think was ambitious at the time).  Wow this was a much further than I expected! However, I loved it and did well for a first attempt.  Over the year of 2008 I did a couple of other races and started traveling on the triathlon circuit doing some massage therapy along the way.

In 2009 I started racing professional and also completed my first Ironman in Malaysia.  Over the year I placed top 10 in many races, and got my first podium in ITU Long Distance Asia Champs.

2010 is my second year racing professional – a promising and exciting year already with a 3rd in St Croix Ironman 70.3 and 4th in Singapore 70.3.

MY HOME BASE
I am lucky enough to spend the bulk of my year living in Manhattan Beach, CA. The training is amazing! I am surrounded by a team of fantastic people. The sun shines. I love it!
When I am not based here I am traveling the International Triathlon Circuit - racing my lil heart out; or following the summer season home to NZ or across the ditch to Australia for some hardcore good fun training camps and coaching.

MY STRENGTHS
In life – I am known and loved for my positive bubbly nature, and infectious giggle.
In triathlon – running and cycling are naturally my strong points. I excel on hilly courses and can charge off the bike. After a summer block training stint with the Nicholls Academy my swim power is constantly improving, adding to my skill set. Being only a couple of years into the sport my strengths are ever changing and something I always strive to add to.
In health – with two University degree’s under my belt I know the importance of dedication, time management and striving to achieve; with a broad spectrum of health knowledge and qualifications as a result.
I have also supported my studies with sports promotional work and the odd spot of editorial modeling (eg. stretching charts), which has given me the asset of camera confidence.
